China Heights is an art gallery, representing artists & selling art (in person & online). They also rent the gallery space in between exhibitions for photo shoots & media events, and provide creative services.
The brief was for a “lo-fi” website; the website needed to be very understated and to keep a sense of discovery. One of the challenges was to organise lots of data into simple, yet intelligent layouts. Using tags and categories for artists, artwork and events, we are able to pull this data out in various ways (per year, per artists, per exhibition, etc).
So the fact that the website looks very simple is intentional, yet it contains detailed information on all the exhibitions held for the last 15 years and showcases artwork and related shows for 38 represented and associated artists. The extension of the website will be an integrated online store.
